The Bengali Department at Akui Kamalabala Women's College is a thriving academic hub dedicated to the study and promotion of Bengali language and literature. Established in 2016, the department has quickly grown in stature and scope, offering a range of programs tailored to the needs and interests of its students.

Under the esteemed leadership of Dr. Sk Nazrul Islam, who serves as the Head of the Department (HoD), alongside the talented faculty member Rajashri Roy, the department fosters a nurturing and intellectually stimulating environment. Their combined expertise and passion for Bengali culture and literature greatly enrich the learning experience of the students.

The department offers several academic programs, starting with the B.A. General/Programme in Bengali, which has been available since the 2016/2017 academic year. Following its success, the B.A. Honours in Bengali was introduced in 2018, providing a more specialized and in-depth study of the subject. Most recently, in 2023, the department expanded its offerings to include Bengali as a Major/Minor, catering to a broader range of academic interests and career aspirations. This progression underscores the department's commitment to academic excellence and adaptability, preparing students to become well-versed in Bengali language and literature.
